Meet The Team

Ben Appleton
I'm a newcomer to the world of Photography but have seen many wonderful sites during my time walking the mountains and moors of the UK. Looking back I had always
wished that I had taken some pictures along my travels so that I would have something to look at so a couple of years ago I bought a digital camera for a holiday I was going
on and the rest is history. I have been carrying it with me ever since. On several occasions when people have seen my pictures they have commented on how good some of
them were so I thought why not see if anyone else thinks so.... and here I am.
I mainly walk in the Lake District but have travelled all over the UK walking and climbing, this has been helped greatly by my time with the Territorial Army. Through
them I have been taken to places I would not normally have bothered with and tried new and exciting things. I am aiming to start travelling farther a field and spending a
few days in the outdoors taking in the sites and getting as many pictures as possible.
Recently I have become involved with a project to set up an online walking guide service. People will be able to register their interest in taking part in a certain walk and
once there is a group ready to set out a leader will be assigned an then they will set out. I have been approached to become one of the group leaders so I am currently logging
as many days walking as possible to take the WGL (walking group leader) & MGL (mountain group leader) courses. Once I have completed these I am looking to start rock
climbing more and possibly take on the SPA (Single Pitch Award) also. This would allow me to take groups to sites such as Yorkshire to incorporate both activities.

Hi, I have been taking photographs for some time but only recently decided to post them on the net. I like to combine my photography with my other hobbies of hill
walking and scuba diving. I mainly go walking with Ben and Matt the other contributors to this site.
I hope you like our images as much as we enjoyed going out to the hills and lakes to take them.

I have been doing photography for the last ten years or so, starting by photographing my work as a furniture/product designer, then becoming more serious
with ideas specific to photography. I have only worked with film cameras until now. I am starting to take pictures with digital media, including
camera phones, but I will always continue to use my 35mm film camera. Subject matter for me is always trying to see the world differently,
whether it is the countryside, city, or the bits in between.
